What is Editing?

Editing is the second, and arguably the most difficult and time-consuming part of the publishing process. This covers the part where we read, edit, read edit and read again until the manuscript is right.

Your editor will look for places where the manuscript can be improved, revised or changed until the story flows and any flaws have been ironed out.

This can be frustrating for the writer, especially when you think you can’t possibly do any more editing. However, the editor won’t just leave you to it. They guide you through the process and explain why they are asking for the changes to be made.

Working with an editor doesn’t mean you have to compromise the storyline, change characters or re-write the whole manuscript. You’re the creator, but the editor is there to help you polish the manuscript, so it’s ready for publication.

Why do I need an editor?

There is nothing stopping you from completing your own editing, but how ruthless will you really be? Do you really have it in you to cut that line you love or change a scene you really enjoyed writing? It may need changing as it stops the flow of the story, so the question is, can you seriously do it?

These are some of the problems writers face. We write what we think is a killer scene, but sometimes it just doesn’t quite fit with the story And sometimes we simply need this pointing out to us. Don’t worry, we’re all guilty of this so you’re not alone.

Our editing services will help you get the flow of your work  just right and help you make the changes that you may know are needed, but unsure how to do it. And we’ll work with you so you don’t disrupt that killer scene too much.

We’ll help you identify what works, what doesn’t and what could do with a little sprucing up.
